Chimneys should be inspected regularly by an expert at least every two years.

Excerpt from DIN 4133:

Chimneys must be inspected regularly by an expert at least every two years. For vibration dampers and climbing protection devices, any shorter periods that may apply for inspection and maintenance must be observed.

In the event of very strong chemical impact and oversizing as a measure against corrosion, the inspection should be performed in shorter intervals. Also the accessible inner space between carrier pipe and interior pipe must be included in the inspection.

A report must be issued on the inspection.

Ein Schornstein für das Kraftwerk

Gestern haben die Stadtwerke an ihrem neuen Blockheizkraftwerk an der Sprottauer Straße nahe der Skateranlage ein gewaltiges Bauteil eingesetzt. 26 Meter misst der Schornstein, der zu einer Kesselanlage gehört - sie dient als Sicherung, falls das Kraftwerk einmal ausfällt oder überlastet sein sollte. Drei Millionen Euro investieren die Stadtwerke am Standort, an dem bald eine Leistung von zehn Millionen Kilowattstunden pro Jahr erzeugt wird, was für die Versorgung von 3000 Haushalten mit Strom und von 1000 mit Wärme ausreicht. Von der Sprottauer Straße aus soll künftig auch die Energie ins Kreishaus fließen. Auch an der Wittekindstraßße entsteht derzeit ein Kraftwerk - beide sollen im Oktober /November in Betrieb gehen.
